It's not enough to just read the headlines. There is a lot of information circulating—creating chaos, confusion, and fear. Dispel the fear. Learn the facts.

Know Your Rights & the Rights of Others
Everyone is given basic rights under the U.S. Constitution, no matter who is President

Take a Pro Bono Case
We will provide any necessary training! And the commitment doesn't have to be a full case. There is a full range of need. You could:
- Assist at a Clinic or Presentation
- Mentor a New Attorney & Act as a Reference for Their Questions
- Co-counsel a Case
- Accept a Pro Bono Case for Full Representation

- Provide Interpretation at a Clinic

Contact Your Representative
Advocate for our immigrant and refugee friends. Advocate for community organizations that serve them. Thank them for supporting the causes you care about.
- Find Your Federal, State, & Local Representatives

- Call your representative in Congress and tell them you want deportation raids to stop immediately.
- Call your mayor, governor, and local and state representatives and demand that they take steps to protect immigrant communities.

Help Spread the Word
You are an influencer. Who in your circle needs to learn more about immigration or refugee assistance?
- Invite ABLE to present at a board meeting at a partner organization
- Set a time for ABLE to present at a professional or networking organization
- Schedule a meeting with a key supporter or influencer
- Send a letter or note to a friend or colleague and introduce them to ABLE's work
- Share Know Your Rights information
- Host a fundraising or awareness event

Host a Welcoming Dinner
Not an attorney? Don't speak any other languages? Open up your home to a refugee family and share a meal.

Report incidences of hate in your community.

Learn About DACA
The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is likely to be eliminated in the first 100 days of President Trump's term, leaving those currently living with this status extremely vulnerable.
10.
Contact Your Faith Leader
Many faith communities have already shown their support for immigrants and refugees. Find the initiative in your own faith community:
- United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Justice for Immigrants Initiative
- Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society
- Lutheran Immigrant and Refugee Services
- United Methodist Committee on Relief
- Ask your faith leader support to refugees and immigrants in your diocese or district. Develop a response plan to support your refugee and immigrant neighbors.
- Host an Event at Your House of Worship
